faq
Do you have a referral program?
Yes! You will receive a $20.00 gift card in the mail towards your next session for every referral you make who completes a session! You can use more than one referral discount in one session so keep adding them up!
What session packages do you offer and what are the costs?
Please contact us for our current price list and package info. See our "session info" page for more information as well.
Do I get the high quality CD of images?
We know how important it is to have access to your photo files. At Creative Roost, we include with all session packages a CD of full resolution files to be printed at any lab of your choice. You will also be provided with printing tips and a signed print release form.
How long does it take to receive my images and card orders?
You will get a sneak peek of a couple photos within a few days. Once all of the images have been retouched, they will be put on a disc and mailed to your home in our unique Creative Roost packaging. This process takes about 2 - 3 weeks to complete. Pre-designed baby announcements and holiday cards also take 2 - 3 weeks from start to finish. Please keep this in mind around the holidays to make sure you have them in time to mail out to your friends and family! The absolute latest to place holiday card orders is American Thanksgiving weekend. Earlier the better! Book your photo session early enough too!
What happens with bad weather, I´m sick or have a sick child?
We will reschedule to the next available appointment. Life happens!
What should we wear?
Simplicity is always best. Heavy prints and logos are always a distraction. You don´t have to all match but coordinating within your family in small ways can look great too. Fun shoes, your bare feet, layered clothing, scarves, headbands, are always an option! For kids and babies, a tutu, a soft hat, blankets, diaper covers and headbands can be some creative added touches you may have and potentially want to use. During our phone consultation we can talk about more ideas.
I am interested in booking a session. What do I need to do?
Email Creative Roost at kim@creativeroost.com or by phone at 860.338.5473 to schedule a session.
How far in advance should I call to schedule a session?
1-2 months ahead of time is a good time to schedule. If you need a "last minute" session, we will do our best to fit you in. For newborns, let us know your approximate due date in advance and when you know of your precious arrival, call us to schedule something within 10 days of the birth date.
Can I take my digital files anywhere to be printed?
Yes! Creative Roost retains the copyright to the images and you will receive a print release form along with your CD of images. Please keep in mind that the print lab you choose will affect the quality of the final print and Creative Roost will not be held responsible for mistakes made during the printing process. If you are interested in professional lab prints or custom design work, please contact us.
Can I post my photos on Facebook or my personal blog?
Yes! There will be a folder on your CD called FOR WEB. They are watermarked with the Creative Roost logo to protect you and the rights of the photo. Do NOT print these files, they are low resolution and for web only.
How do I pay for my session?
You can pay by cash or check at your photo session. Sales tax will be applied.
Do you have a studio?
No. Creative Roosts´ studio is mainly the good ol´ outdoors, so we are seasonal (April - November), with the exception of newborn sessions (year round and indoor). Surrounded by tons of natural light is how we want to capture those sweet memories in life. Well lit rooms with lots of windows are ideal for indoor newborn shoots. During our phone consultation we will discuss location.
Do you travel for a photo session?
Yes. We are local to Glastonbury, CT and have several great spots for photoshoots in our area.
How long will the session last?
A typical session will last 1-2 hours. A newborn session can last anywhere from 2-3 hours. Our mini session called "social lite" lasts around half hour. With any session, we don´t like watching the clock. We will take what time we need to get the best shots possible.
